Federal Universal Service Fee
The 1996 Telecommunications Act requires all long distance carriers to
contribute to the The Federal Universal Service Fund, which is designed to
provide discounted telecommunications services to schools, public libraries
and low income consumer customers.
TTI collects its contribution in the form of a Federal Universal Service Fee
(FUSF) on customer's invoices. The FUSF rate charged by telecommunication
companies is mandated by the FCC. The current FUSF rate is 11.4%.
Additional information regarding FUSF can be found on the FCC's website by
visiting http://www.fcc.gov.
FUSF is charged on all invoiced interstate and international charges, not
including taxes.
